Albert William Kersting

March 21, 1941 — July 23, 2022

Longtime local resident Albert William Kersting, 81, of Vancouver, passed away July 23, 2022, at Somerset Retirement and Assisted Living in Longview.

He was born March 21, 1941, in Gaston, Ore., to Harry and Mildred (Desper) Kersting. He attended Vancouver schools through the ninth grade, when he began working on the family farm full-time.

Albert retired as a dairyman and beef rancher in 2018. He was a member of the Fort Vancouver Antique Club, and loved making rope for the kids at the county fair and other local events. He enjoyed reading, painting, studying history, woodworking, and racing at Portland International Raceway (PIR) with his family.

Albert was a quiet, loving and generous man. His family will cherish the life experiences and knowledge he shared with them over the years.

On Aug. 1, 1962, he married Sharon Marie Moss. She survives him at the family home in Vancouver. Also surviving are a brother, Henry Kersting of Long Beach, Wash.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kim Kersting of Longview and Gary and Aleeta Kersting of Washougal, Wash.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret; and a brother, Richard.

A wake will honor Albert’s life at 1 p.m. Aug. 13, at the home of Mark Kersting, 4720 Beverly St., in Longview.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park.
