Anne Porter, 87, of Kalama passed away peacefully March 23, 2021, at The Villager in Castle Rock.
She was born in Beckley, W.Va., Oct. 27, 1933, to Lawrence and Julia (Nagy) Cable. Anne moved to the local area 54 years ago and attended Lower Columbia College, where she received her general education diploma.
Anne performed various customer services duties with a variety of employers over the years, held managerial positions and owned a business for a time before retiring in 1978. Above all, Anne was a loving mother of four.
She was a past member of the Rainier Eagles. She loved gardening, landscaping and traveling throughout the Western United States, rockhounding and seeing the sites.
Anne was a sensible level-headed woman. She had a strong spiritual belief and was fair and kind to everyone she met. She had a giving nature and sacrificed much of her own resources and time to assist others.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Gene Briggs and Sherman Porter; and her 14 siblings.
Anne is survived by two daughters, Pam McDormett of Kansas City, Mo., and Debra Golding of Toutle, Wash.; two sons, Darrell Briggs of Toledo, Wash., and Brenn Porter of Kalama, Wash.; various in-laws; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place under the direction of Steele Chapel. Anne will be laid to rest with her beloved husband of 27 years, Sherman Porter at Longview Memorial Park.
