Arvo Suomi passed away on December 26, 2024 after a long battle with dementia. His wife of 38 years, Brenda, was by his side. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Heather and Jordan, and his elder brother Eino (Judy). He was predeceased by his parents Einar and Erma and his younger brother Raymond.
Arvo was born in Woodland, WA on June 9, 1948 and graduated from Woodland High School in 1966. He was drafted and earned his Combat Infantry Badge while fighting from June 1968-1969 in Vietnam including the Tet 1969 Battle. He retired from the army as a Sargent. He then earned his Associates in Welding at Lower Columbia College. He worked at Longview Fibre and NORPAC as a maintenance tech for nearly 50 years. He retired in 2017 after never taking a sick day!
Arvo was a lover of cars and was a member of the Untouchables Car Club for many years. He took pride in his 1932 cherry red Ford pick up. He took Brenda and Jordan to many car shows in that truck, including driving over to Yakima with no AC.
Arvo also loved spending time at the beach, clam digging and going to garage sales. He never lacked "stuff" and would go to swap meets ever year. He loved his dogs, especially his Alaskan Malamutes, Cisco and Quinn.
