Barbara Thompson, a longtime resident of Longview, WA, passed away peacefully in her home on April 27, 2022 at the age of 67.
She is survived by her husband Robert Thompson; her daughters Rachel (Morgan Potter) Thompson, Emily (Skyler) Gregory, and Amy (Jacob) McCarty; her sister Liz and brother Richard; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents James Green and Patricia Green and her brother Jim.
Barb was born on April 9th, 1955 in Van Nuys, CA to James and Patricia Green. She graduated from UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and from LCC with an associate degree in nursing. She spent her career as a Registered Nurse until she retired in 2015. She married the love of her life, Robert on May 4th, 1980 and together they had three daughters: Rachel, Emily, and Amy.
Barbara was always cheerful, loving, kind, and compassionate. She was passionate about truth and justice. She was also passionate about iced tea and roses. Her life was filled with many hobbies including reading, gardening, and sewing. She passed her love of reading onto all her children; her garden was always filled with sweet smelling roses and beautiful flowers (as long as they weren’t yellow), and she loved sewing clothing for her girls and grandkids. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her five grandchildren: Penny, Finn, Stella, Aiden, and Izzy. She loved Jesus and spent much of her time reading His word and praying. In fact, she spent so much time reading the Bible that she would wear them out and have to buy a new one and start all over! Barb was a wonderful woman who left an impact on many people throughout her life, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held for Barbara at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park at 5050 Mt Solo Rd in Longview on June 11, 2022 at 10 am. Her son-in-law Skyler will officiate. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Robert Thompson at 4256 Phillips Ct. Longview, WA
