Barbra Joanne White, 90, of Longview passed away Sept. 8, 2022.
She was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Yakima, Wash., to Jonathan “Walt” and Sarah (Titus) Carlile. She graduated from Yakima Valley High School in 1949. She moved to Walla Walla in the summer of 1975 and to the local area 10 years ago.
Barbra was a licensed practical nurse, a cook, and a bookkeeper. She was a member of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, and Pioneer United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering, cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles and making friends. Barbra was generous and friendly. She was also quick-witted and loved to laugh.
Survivors include a brother, Bill Carlile of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Myrna Myrick of Corpus Christi, Texas; three daughters, Lori DeWitt (Mike) of Walla Walla, Nancy Howe of Spokane, Wash., and Melanie Portwood (Loren) of Clovis, Calif.; a son James Barr (Tania) of Trucksville, Pa.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Sara Carlile; two brothers, George and Frank; a sister, Margaret Sargent; her husband, Jim White; and a stepdaughter, Dee Valiante.
A celebration of Barbra’s life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the East Hills Alliance Church, 1405 Burcham St., in Kelso with Pastor Josh Droke officiating.
