Beverly J Lillard
February 18, 1941 - August 6, 2021
Beverly Lillard died peacefully Friday, August 6, 2021. Bev waited until her last grandchild arrived to say her good-bye before passing quietly in her sleep. Her son Shawn and his girlfriend Carol took Bev into their home to take over her care in early July. She often said she was being treated like a queen and spent her last few weeks safe, happy and content.
Born Beverly Joyce Tangeman in Omaha, NE, to Samuel Tangeman and Mollie (Whitman) Tangeman, Bev was the sixth of eight children. She moved with her family to Portland, Oregon in the 1950's. She graduated from Washington High School in 1959. Bev enjoyed her studies and was an avid reader her entire life.
Beverly met the lover of her life, Melvin Lillard, in February of 1960 while at a roller skating rink in Portland. They were married Nov 19 of that same year. Mel worked most of his career at Nabisco and Bev was a homemaker. They remained faithfully together until Mel's passing, Oct. 8, 2020.
Bev enjoyed reading, visiting with friends and family, card games, spending time with her grandchildren and playing bunco.
Bev is remembered by those who knew her as generous to a fault, hard working, loyal and kind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel; her sisters, Sandie, Glorie and Donna' and her brothers, Sonny, Ken, Ben and Pat.
Bev is survived by her adoring children, Scott Lillard of Vancouver, Shawn Lillard of La Center and Lisa Towner of Vancouver; and her grandchildren, April Green, Samantha Lillard, Amber Rauch, Zachary Propst, Dee Towner, Steven Lillard and Set Lillard.
