Beverly Ann Smith, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, in Longview, Washington, at the age of 92. Born on October 21, 1932, in Collinsville, Illinois, Beverly's life was marked by a deep dedication to her family and a passion for personal growth.
Growing up in a quaint midwestern town, Beverly attended SS Peter and Paul Parochial School and Collinsville High School before graduating from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington, in 1950. Her thirst for knowledge led her to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Evergreen State College and later a Master's Degree from Chapman University. Later in life, she found her calling as a therapist at Behavioral Health Resources, where she touched many lives with her compassionate approach and unwavering support.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Beverly's spirit was nurtured through her many hobbies and interests. She had a profound love for raising Pekingese dogs that filled her home with warmth and affection. Her creativity flourished in painting, where she expressed her unique vision of the world. A voracious reader and a talented poet, she found solace in the written word, often sharing her heartfelt creations with her loved ones. In addition, Beverly's green thumb shone brightly in her gardening endeavors, where she cultivated beauty and tranquility. She also led a guitar group at her church, harmonizing her passion for music with her deep-seated faith.
Beverly is survived by her loving children: Sandra St. Onge, Dane Smith, and Sharon Smith. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Nic St. Onge, Matt St. Onge, Shawn Smith, Jill Smith, Larry Dore, and Stephanie Dore. The joy she felt in being a great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild is a testament to the legacy of love she created.
Though she is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester "Bud" Smith, and both parents, Beverly's spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those she touched. Her remarkable life, filled with love, knowledge, and creativity, serves as an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed but warmly remembered for her boundless compassion and the light she brought into the world.
