It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a remarkable soul, Carl Ashby, who left this world peacefully at his home, surrounded by those who cherished him dearly.
Carl was born to Robert Henry and Mary Linnie (Waldrop) Ashby. He attended Dublin High School before making a selfless decision to leave school in order to care for his family. Despite this sacrifice, his wisdom and skills paved the way for many years of joy and contentmentIn the journey of life, Carl found love in Darlene, with whom he shared a beautiful family including their son Carl, stepson William, daughters Billie, Barbara, Carol, Elizabeth, and stepdaughter Audrey. Known for his warm heart and welcoming nature, Carl never met a stranger. He was a devoted family man who deeply adored his loved ones and friends alike. Always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Carl had an array of hobbies that brought him immense joy - from yodeling to hunting, from watching old western shows to tinkering with trucks and tractors. He had a special fondness for farm animals, especially donkeys, and enjoyed collecting odds and ends along the way. His infectious laughter filled the room as he shared humorous anecdotes or tales from days gone by.
Fondly referred to as Pa or Grandpa by many, Carl held a special place in countless hearts. A respected figure and the cornerstone of family gatherings, he will be remembered for his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication as a provider for his cherished family.
Carl is reunited in peace with his parents Robert and Mary Ashby, his beloved wife Darlene Ashby, son Carl Ashby, daughters Barbara Martinez, Carol Copeland, Elizabeth Nickolson, and stepdaughter Audrey Johnson.
He leaves behind a legacy of love survived by his daughter Billie Ferguson, stepson William Mason, adopted son Raymond Chance, grandsons Terrance Ashby and Raymond "Peanut" Chance Jr., as well as close friends Annie Ogle and Dan Gibbons.
To many whose lives he touched, Carl will forever remain Dad, Grandpa Pa—a beloved confidant and closest companion. May his spirit of generosity and love continue to inspire us all.
