Cathleen Alice Batchelor, affectionately known as Cathy, was born on July 22, 1946, in Portland, Oregon. She departed this world on November 1, 2024, in Longview, Washington, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and unforgettable memories.
A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in Portland, Oregon, class of 1964, Cathy embarked on a lifelong journey marked by her vibrant personality. For many years, she made her mark in the banking industry before picking up new challenges as an Emergency Planner for Cowlitz County, a role she embraced with passion until her retirement.
Cathy was more than just her career; she was a beacon of joy and warmth in the lives of all who knew her. Her infectious laugh could brighten any room, and her ability to create connections meant she was regarded as everyone’s friend. A devoted mother, she cherished every moment spent with her family. Memories of family trips to Disneyland, exciting camping excursions, and treasured time at their beloved beach house will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Her interests were as varied as her relationships; she found joy in reading, embraced the creativity of cross-stitch, delighted in the challenge of word search puzzles, and loved the thrill of treasure hunting on the beach and antiquing. Her adventurous spirit also took her on memorable cruises, where she created cherished moments with her husband Gene while exploring the wonders of the sea.
Cathy's family extends beyond her immediate circle, including her beloved daughter, Heather Wale (Allen); her devoted son, Chris Batchelor (Julie); and her cherished grandchildren: Jessica Libby, Kaitlyn Wale, Will Batchelor, and Natalie Batchelor. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, Tucker Libby. Alongside her close family, Cathy is survived by two brothers, Thomas Morris (Susan) and David Morris (Marcy), along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and one aunt, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Cathy's life journey, while filled with joy and laughter, is now marked by the profound absence felt by her family and friends after the loss of her husband, Gene Batchelor, her father, Archie L. Morris, and her mother, Edna Ellefsen Morris. Their legacy continues through the love and memories that Cathy cultivated in her own family.
