Corazon Ison Quiachon, 84, went to be with the Lord Jan. 5, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 25, 1936, in Murcia, Philippines, to Dionicio and Sofia Ison. She would share many stories of her childhood during WWII, hiding from Japanese soldiers in her grandfather's sugar cane fields along with her relatives.
Corazon met and married her husband, Marcelo, in 1959. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education during the busy season of raising five of their seven children.
In 1968, her family moved to Seattle where Marcelo worked for the Boeing Company. The following year, the family settled in Longview, Wash.
Cora, as she was fondly called by her friends, enjoyed another career as a CNA at St. John Medical Center until she retired in 1990.
Corazon was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. In her lifetime she experienced the loss of a daughter, Laura; a son, Domingo; and Marcelo, her husband of 37 years. Yet she continued to persevere through volunteer and mission work at Northlake Baptist Church. Corazon held an unwavering faith in God which she often shared with those around her.
Corazon is survived by five children; Evelyn Heitman of Tumwater, Wash., Marcelo Quiachon Jr. of Longview, Leo Quiachon of Austin, Texas, Erwin Quiachon of Longview, and Sophie Thompson of Shoreline, Wash; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A graveside service was officiated by her cousin, Joe de LaPena of Northlake Baptist Church Jan. 11 at Longview Memorial Park.
