Longtime local resident and daycare teacher Corrine Kay Hill, 83, of Longview, passed away Jan. 1, 2024, at home.
She was born and raised on a farm near Wakonda, S.D., and graduated from Wakonda High School in 1958. Corrine moved to the local area 54 years ago and attended certification classes at Lower Columbia College.
Corrine was a daycare teacher at Longview Christian Daycare for 33 years, retiring 2007. When she wasn’t taking care of little lives she loved to sew, bake and assemble puzzles. She was a gentle, graceful woman devoted to her family, here and in South Dakota. She had a servant’s heart and always put others first. Pleasing others is what pleased her most.
Corrine married Ronald H. Hill in Sioux Falls, S.D., Feb. 18, 1961. He survives her at home. Also surviving are three sons and their spouses, Rod and Nancy Hill of Washougal, Wash., Gregg Hill of Longview and Kevin and Pil Ok Hill of Havelock, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Krista Hill in Thailand, David Hill of Greensburg, Pa., Ryan Hill and his wife, Christine of Camas, Wash., Nathan Hill and his wife, Amanda of Alamogordo, N.M., and Madison, Abigail and Gracie Hill, all of Washougal, Wash.; four great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Ronan, Freya and Amelia, all of Alamogordo; a sister-in-law, Joan Cleveland of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many adored nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Knute Inman and Artis Eunice (Dahlin) Knudson; a brother, Dennis Knudson; and a brother-in-law, Paul Cleveland.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Steele Chapel. Pastor Russ Tevis will officiate. A viewing is planned from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow the service at 2 p.m. at Longview Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Rod Hill, Gregg Hill, Kevin Hill, David Hill, Ryan Hill and Nathan Hill.
