Lifelong local resident Darrell D. Clark, 97, of Castle Rock passed away June 5, 2023.
He was born Oct.22, 1925, in Rose Valley, to Amos “Walter” and Anna Irene (Seig) Clark. Darrell graduated from Toutle Lake High School in 1944. He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines and earning the rank of sergeant.
On Aug. 26, 1949, he married Juanita Lois Chism. She preceded him in death. Darrell married Leo Arlene Porter Nov.26, 1965. She also preceded him in death.
Darrell worked as a logger, but gardening was his passion, especially grafting fruit trees. He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s ball games, and tinkering in his garage.
He is survived by five children, Yvonne Martin of Castle Rock, Marie Clark of Memphis, Tenn., Dennis Clark of Toledo, Wash., and DeeAnn Leslie and Scott Clark, both of Longview; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline friends. Darrell was preceded in death by all 10 of his siblings.
A celebration of Darrell’s life, with military honors, is planned for 1 p.m. July 8 at Steele Chapel. Private burial will take place at Silver Lake Cemetery.
