Dolores Angeline Hartley, 94, of Longview passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept. 20, 2023, at home.
She was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Northome, Minn., to George and Luverne (Leseman) Torpey. Dolly graduated from high school in Pomeroy, Wash., in 1949.
On June 2, 1962, she married Elvin C. Hartley in Lewiston, Idaho, and became a homemaker. She enjoyed canning, gardening, and hosting family gatherings. Elvin passed unexpectedly due to a heart attack in 1971.
Dolly was cheerful, kind, strong and determined. She had a big heart, always wanting to know how she could help someone. She was spiritual and always saw the good in everyone. In her later years, Dolly enjoyed her pets, shopping, and breakfast out on Saturdays.
Survivors include four children, Lewis Wilks (Jill) of Denver, Colo., Sherry McCormack (Mark) of Longview, Sharon Buennagel (John) of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Sallie Plaster of Anchorage, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her dear friend, Mary Wingate of Longview; her longtime caregiver, Sheila Scardino of Longview; and her feline companion, Callie.
In addition to Elvin, Dolly was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Jerrie Hartley; a brother, Thomas Torpey; a grandson, David Plaster; and her canine companion, Maggie.
A viewing is planned from 10 a.m. to service time at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Steele Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Longview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Michael Hartley, John Jones, Alex Shuttleworth, Abby Buennagel, Cory Searle, and Lane Smith.
