Dolores Jean Constantine

August 21, 1950 — May 31, 2022

Dolores Jean Constantine, 71, of Kelso, passed away unexpectedly May 31, 2022, at St. John Medical Center in Longview.

She was born Aug. 21, 1950, in Santa Clara, Calif., to Lloyd George and Eleanor Eva Jones. Dolores was active in gymnastics and dance as a child. She graduated from Cupertino High School in California where she was a member of the swim team and the cheerleading squad for many years. She then attended nursing school for a while.

Dolores was working as a checker at the Alpha Beta Grocery Store in San Jose when she met an 18 year-old stock boy names Gordon Edward Constantine. He loved her sense of humor and missed her when she transferred to another store in Santa Clara. When she returned to the San Jose location, Gordon proposed on one knee in the parking lot. They were married March 1, 1975, at the Church of Christ in Cupertino.

Dolores and Gordon moved to the Kelso/Longview area where Dolores found work as a housekeeper. She enjoyed sewing, painting and baking. Her butterscotch rum cake was a family favorite. Dolores was kind and loving. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gordon; three daughters, Wendy Elise Constantine, Kimberly Robin Constantine, and Karen Rene Linn (Keith); two grandsons, Bentley Edward Constantine and Josiah Cash Linn; a brother, Tom Jones; two sisters, Sharon (Jones) Fay and Debbie (Jones) Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Stanley “Sandy” Albert Jones and an infant brother, Bobby.

A celebration of Dolores’ life is planned for noon Sept. 1 at the home of Tommy and Stacey Jones in Longview.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park.
