Douglas M Scotberg, 94, of Kalama WA, passed away on April 13,2022.
He left Kalama High School in 1945 to join the Navy. He worked as a carpenter for Weyerhaeuser, and most importantly, he and his wife, Mildred, were farmers. He cared for his animals; you could always tell where he was in the house as the cows in the field was grouped in the near vicinity.
He belonged to the Kalama Methodist Church, served on the Kalama school board, and volunteered at Helping Hands. Doug loved following the local student sports, cheering on all of the athletes. Doug and Mildred traveled to all 50 United States, the Panama Canal, and Europe.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, and his wife of 62 years. Doug is survived by two children, Doug and his wife Cathy, and Susan “Kathy”; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A son, Donald recently passed.
Please celebrate Doug's life by donating to Helping Hands, a charity of your choice, or carrying on his love of farming: feed a chicken, pet a cat, teach a dog a trick, watch the golden light of the morning sun as it brightens up a new day! Know that he loved his family and friends. We are happy that he remains with God and is walking the fields with Mom and Jesus.
Please join us Oct. 21, 2023, from noon to 2 p.m. at Kalama Community Building.
