Edward "Bud" Brabec, Jr., 11 days short of 101 years of age, passed away at home in Camas, WA, with family. He was born to Edward and Edith Brabec on March 27, 1916 in Annandale, MN where he graduated from Annandale High School. Edward worked with his Dad in their cabinet business before he married Adele Gustafson in 1938. Together they raised 3 children, a son and 2 daughters.
They moved to Vancouver, WA in 1952 and Bud was foreman for Larson Construction until he started his own business, Brabec Construction, Inc., in 1963. He built many commercial businesses around town: the hotel attached to the Inn at the Quay, Al Bower Hall of Clark Community College and the Veterinarian Clinic at 4th Plain and St. Johns to name a few. Bud was involved with the Carpenters Apprentice Program and served on their board.
Bud was active in the community and was a 5th degree Grange member serving as the Master of Hazel Dell Grange for several years in the 70's. He was also a member of both the Pythians and the Elks. He and Adele attended the First Church of God and enjoyed the Joy Group there into their 90's.
Bud sold his business in 1991. He and Adele loved to travel and covered all 50 states.
Bud will be missed by his 2 daughters, Maureen (Larry) Drake of Longview, WA and Debbi Oslund of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Adele; and son, Wayne.
Services honoring Edward "Bud" Brabec Jr. will be held Fri., April 7, 2017, 1:00p.m., followed by a private graveside service at Northwood Park Funeral Home, 16407 NE 15th Ave., Ridgefield, WA 98642.
