Longtime local resident Eldora Theola Franklin, 96, of Longview passed away Jan. 15, 2024, at the Canterbury Gardens.
She was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Roseglen, N.D., to Thomas and Elise (Pederson) Franklin. Eldora attended schools in Roseglen and Minot, N.D.
Eldora moved to the local area from Minot 78 years ago. She was a machine operator in the Longview Fibre Box Plant for 42 years, retiring in 1986. Eldora was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed her rose garden. She was a world traveler, visiting Russia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Egypt, the Holy Land, the Mediterranean, London, Paris and Amsterdam to name a few, but her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii.
Eldora will be remembered for her independence. She never married but was a beloved second mother to the many nieces and nephews who survive her.
She was preceded in death by nine siblings, Sam, Orvin, Ferd, Bessie, Tessie, Adeline, Thelma, Obert, and Mabel.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at Steele Chapel with Pastor Denise Arnold of Gloria Dei Lutheran in Kelso officiating. A reception will follow in the chapel’s hospitality room. Eldora will be laid to rest at Longview Memorial Park.
Contributions in Eldora’s name may be made to a charity of choice.
