Elsie Louise Kennedy, born on April 2, 1939, embraced life with a loving spirit that radiated warmth and kindness to all who knew her. She passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 13, 2024, at The Oaks at Timberline in Vancouver, Washington, encircled by the love that defined her life.
Elsie's journey through life was marked by her dedication as a devoted homemaker, skillfully balancing the roles of nurturing mother and loving wife. She married the love of her life, Vernon, on a sunny April day in 1958, and together they crafted a remarkable life filled with laughter, joy, and companionship. Theirs was a partnership built on shared experiences, including their passion for square dancing, a vibrant hobby they enjoyed for 30 wonderful years.
A woman of many talents, Elsie found joy in making afghans and was frequently seen crocheting and knitting, sharing her creations with loved ones. Each stitch she made carried the essence of her generous heart, a testament to the care she put into her crafts.
Elsie's vibrant legacy lives on through her beloved children, Deborah Brost (Phil), Shannon Greenwood, and Kelly Kennedy (Shelly). Their lives are a reflection of the values she instilled in them, as they continue to carry forward her loving spirit.
In addition to her immediate family, she is preceded in death by her mother, Lydia Fischer, her son Marvin Kennedy, and her cherished grandson Jay Kennedy. Their absence leaves a void that speaks to the depth of the love she fostered within her family.
As we remember Elsie, we celebrate the rich tapestry of her life—a narrative woven together by love, creativity, and treasured moments shared with family and friends. Her gentle nature, compassion, and devotion will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered, her spirit living on in the cherished memories held by all who knew her.
