Eric L. Morgan, of Longview, WA, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2022. He was only 51 years old. The family is both devastated and shocked by his death.
Eric was born on November 16, 1970 in Turlock, CA to Jerry and Brenda (Richardson) Morgan. He graduated from Kelso High School in 1989. Eric served five years in the US Army and was part of the Army’s premier infantry force, the Army Rangers. He attended Midwestern State University and knew he wanted to begin a career in corrections. Eric has worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, and Washington Department of Corrections. At the time of his death, he was the Community Corrections Supervisor for Unit 604 of the Longview Field Office.
Eric is survived by his wife Taryn and daughters Maddison and Kira all of Longview; parents Jerry and Brenda of Sacramento; brother Corey (Gina) of Roseville; and countless other loved ones.
Eric could often be found cleaning and polishing his beloved ‘66 Chevelle and winning awards at car shows within 75 miles of his home. He also enjoyed riding his Harley on beautiful sunny days with great friends. His passion and devotion to his work family was something he took pride in. Everyone who knew Eric understood he was very private and protective when it came to himself and his family. He built a village for his wife and daughters without even knowing he built it.
A celebration of his life will be held at Steele Chapel in Longview on Wednesday, November 16th at 4pm. There will also be a reception afterwards at Olympic Elementary School in the gymnasium. This day would have been his 52nd birthday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Cowlitz Humane Society or Community Home Health and Hospice in Longview.
