Gary E. Haley, 77, of Longview passed away July 25, 2022, at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born Dec. 17, 1944, in Buffalo, N.Y., to John and Elva (Erway) Haley. In 1963 he graduated from Cleveland Hill High School in Cheektowaga, N.Y. Gary was an outstanding athlete and a member of the student counsel. He served in the Army from 1964 to 1967.
In 1991 he married Mary Jane (Talboo) Kemp in Des Moines, Wash. She preceded him in death. He then married Kathleen (Howell) Corbin in Longview in 2004. She survives him at home. Also surviving are six stepchildren, Tom, Heather, John, Ryan, Jessica and Megan; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Ken Haley.
In addition to Mary Jane, Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Haley.
Gary worked for United Airlines for 35 years. He was stationed in nine cities with United, starting in ramp service and retiring in Portland as a customer service manager in 2003.
Gary was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. He loved sports, music, and Broadway shows. Gary was kind, loving and caring. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He loved a good prank. Gary was a good listener, but wasn’t afraid to state his views or opinions on an issue. He was loved and respected, making friends wherever life took him.
Gary will be laid to rest with military honors at Longview Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16. A reception will follow in the Steele Chapel Hospitality Room.
