Gelene was born in Rigby Idaho, to Dorward Lamont and Louise Wetzel Hill, on the 19th of July 1938.
Gelene is the second of four children. An older brother, DeWayne Nolan Hill, and two younger sisters, LaDean (Fletcher) and Linda (Zirker). She was raised in Rigby until they moved to Moses Lake Washington, when she was about 14 years old.
A year after graduating she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Tracy Rodeback, on the 12th of June 1957, in the Salt Lake Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ron and Gelene lived in Moses Lake for a couple years, where they had two daughters, LeeAnn (Carnline) and Elaine (Hebdon). They moved to Warden in 1961, where they lived for 21 years, farming with Ron’s father. They had six more children, Darryl, Thaoe, Shawn, Jennifer (Luster), Brian and Lamont.
They moved to Longview in the fall of 1982, where they began a new adventure in life and a new occupation, owning and operating Columbia Chem-dry.
She enjoyed farm life, raising chickens and other animals, gardening, cooking, and canning, china painting, quilting, decorating, antique shopping, snowmobiling, reading, and serving in the Church.
Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother to 39 grandchildren and 82 great grandchildren. Total posterity for Ron and Gelene at her time of death was 163.
Gelene Hill Rodeback passed away, surrounded by loved ones, in her home on the 9th of November 2024. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on November 30th at 11:00am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on 900 11th Avenue, Longview Wa. The family will be receiving guests before the funeral, from 10:00-10:45. Interment at Longview Memorial Park, 5050 Mt Solo Road, Longview, WA immediately following the service.
