Harold Hadley

May 13, 1933 — May 5, 2018

Hal passed away at the age of 84, 8 days short of his 85th birthday. He was born in Yakima, WA to Samuel and Ruth (Luce) Hadley, 6th of 7 children.

Hal enlisted in the Marines and served in Korea and then it was on to the Air Force where he flew 500 missions into Vietnam before retiring in 1974. While in the service, he went to college and received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He loved his years in the military and always said "I wish I could do it all over again, because if you love what you do - it's not considered a job".

After retirement, Hal owned a number of companies - a mobile home court, a brick factory and a storage facility. He also worked in sales and maintenance.

After marrying his second wife, Yvonne, in 1986, they bought a semi truck and drove for Mayflower Moving & Storage, moving households all over the United States and Canada for the next 10 years.

Hal loved woodworking and designed, built, and sold the arbors, waterwheel's, wishing wells and bridges that are scattered all over Clark County to this day.

Hal was a great storyteller and if you heard a story once, you heard it 100 times. What we wouldn't do to hear those stories one more time.

Hal is survived by his wife, Yvonne; step-children, Joyce (Michael) Greenwood, Mike Gross and Gary Gross and their families, all from Vancouver, WA; sons, Brian (LaDawn), Allen (Cindy) and Darin (Suz) Hadley and their families from Hermiston, OR; daughter, Andrea (Verlin) Denton from Pendleton, OR and their family; and brother, Dale (Norma) Hadley and family from Albany, OR.

A special thanks to the amazing caretakers at Salmon Creek Best Senior Care for the loving care they gave him the last few weeks of his life.

A Potluck Celebration of Life will be held May 19th at the Hazel Dell Community Park located at 2300 NE 68th Street, Vancouver ,WA from 12:00 - 2:00.
