Herman Dene Koons

Herman Dene Koons, age 94, passed away peacefully at home, December 28, 2022. Born July 23, 1928 to Ellis & Dixie (Bowen) Koons. He was raised in the Napavine area until entering the Navy in 1946. After his return from the Navy he married Margaret (Franks) Koons in 1952 and they made their home in Centralia, WA. until 1967 at which time they moved to Longview, WA. for Herman to continue his lifelong career with Weyerhaeuser Co. After his retirement in 1990 he spent his time fishing, growing an amazing vegetable garden every summer and was an avid reader with John Grisham being his favorite author. He is survived by a sister, Ida Mae Seeger of Winlock, WA., a brother Lee Koons of Napavine, WA. Two children, Dene Koons of Kennewick, WA.,and Karen (Koons) Johnson of Longview, WA. Six grandchildren, Summer, Sally, Nicole, Tyler, Erik and Zack. Five great-grandchildren and beloved neighbors Diane and the late Bruce Myers. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 42 years, his parents, bother George & sisters Marilyn and Thelma. Private interment will take place at a later date.
