Hulen Raymond Trotter

Hulen Raymond Trotter, 85,of Kelso passed away April 24,2024, at St. John Medical Center in Longview.

He was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Harvey, Ark., to Howard and Mamie (Brooks) Trotter. Hulen moved with his family to Washington when he was 14, finished school (GED)then joined the Air Force three years later. As an Airman Third Class he graduated from the School of Aviation Medicine in 1956 at Gunter Air Force Base in Alabama. Hulen served for 10 years 1955-1965, including four years in Japan, two years in England, a year in Hawaii and the remaining in FL where he was stationed before returning to Longview.

He married Dolly LaVerne (Dee) Franklin in Longview Dec. 30,1966. They had homes in Longview and Packwood, WA. Hulen worked for Weyerhaeuser in Longview after leaving the military  and soon moved to Packwood and worked then retired as a log truck driver 40+ years later in Packwood. When Dee passed away in 2004, Hulen returned to work as a truck driver for the United States Postal Service.

He was a member of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union #2767, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling  and spending time with family. He was friendly, generous, helpful, loving and humorous.

Hulen is survived by two daughters, Michelle (David) Clement of Packwood, and Lynnette Trotter of Woodland; two stepchildren, Mark Guess and Sharon Guess; his precious grandchildren, Jaime Clement, Nicholas Clement plus great grand Kaya, and Courtney (Jake) Chase. Delia Rodriguez plus 2 great grandsons , Bryanna Trotter plus 1 great grand son and Cesar Flores. Michael Dellamonica (Sarah) plus 3 gg, Melissa House plus 4 gg and Travis House plus 2 gg. His  brother Darrel (Roberta) Trotter, Rosburg WA.15 step grands and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

In addition to his beloved wife Dee, Hulen was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Phillips; a stepdaughter, Laverne Guess; three brothers, Wallace (Loretta), Covil (Shirley), and Donald Trotter; and two sisters, Shearan (Bill) Hamilton, and Clarice Joy (Peewee) Peterson. And all 10 in-laws.

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. June 8 at the Packwood Community Presbyterian Church. Pastor Larry Veith will officiate and military honors will be acknowledged.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to engrave Hulen's name on a granite memorial bench at the church may be made to Michelle Clement c/o Trotter Estate P.O. Box 27, Packwood, WA 98361.
