Jack David Nelmark, 81, of Kelso passed away peacefully in his sleep Aug. 4, 2023, at home.
He was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., to Hjalmer and Ann (Erkkila) Nelmark, and the family moved to the local area when he was five. Jack graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1960, where he was a defensive end on the football team.
Jack was a pipefitter with Local 26 for many years. He was also a member of the Lower Columbia Fly Fishing Club and the Moose Lodge. Jack loved the outdoors, hunting, and yearly fishing trips to Lake Hihium in Canada. He was patient and meticulous, and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Croney) Nelmark in Vancouver; a brother, Gerald “Whitey” Nelmark of Longview; a son, Greg Nelmark of Ridgefield, Wash.; a daughter, Trish Nelmark of Longview; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
A funeral service is planned for 1 pm. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Steele Chapel. Jack will be laid to rest at Longview Memorial Park.
