Jack James Risner, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully December 3, 2024, in Longview, Washington, at the age of 76. He was born on March 25, 1948, in Vancouver, Washington.
Jack graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1966, marking the beginning of a life dedicated to family and community. Known for his warm and kind nature, Jack was a figure who consistently looked out for others. He was a great provider and an avid fisherman, deriving immense joy from spending time fishing and camping with his family. His playful crooked smile and quick wit brought laughter and light to all who knew him.
In addition to his love for the outdoors, Jack had a deep enthusiasm for the Seattle Mariners, showcasing his unwavering support for his favorite team. He took great pride in his family, having been married to his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Risner, for 57 years. Together, they raised three loving children: Scott, Sean, and Sandy, who were his pride and joy. Jack was also a dedicated grandfather to his grandchildren, including Scott Jr., Christien, Radley, and Shelby. His family was everything to him, and they will cherish the memories he created during countless shared moments.
Jack's professional life was equally commendable, having enjoyed a fulfilling 42 years of employment at Weyerhaeuser. He touched many lives throughout his career, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
He is survived by his devoted wife Cheryl; his sons Scott and Sean; his daughter Sandy; his son-in-law Joe Anderson; his grandchildren Scott Jr., Christien, Radley, and Shelby; his sisters Dawn, Beverly, and BettyJo; and his brothers Ray and Larry. He was preceded in death by his father David Risner, mother Rose Risner, and his brothers David, Ron, and Butch, as well as his sisters Rosemarie and Carol Jean.
Jack James Risner leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an indelible impact on his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
