James Guy Foley, 86, of Longview passed away Feb. 13, 2024, at home with the love of his life by his side.
He was born June 28, 1937, in Champaign, IL, to Guy and June (Tyler) Foley. Jim graduated from Tuscola High School and attended Eastern Illinois College.
Jim married Linda Wright on April 5, 1974, in Houston, Texas. They spent the next 49 years teasing each other and sharing private jokes.
Jim held a number of positions over the years, most recently as a truck driver for ABF Freight, driving from Cheyenne, Wyo., to Salt Lake City, Utah, three times a week. He was a member of the Teamsters until retiring in 2007. Jim enjoyed watching NASCAR and camping wherever Linda wanted to go. He had a giving nature.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Linda Foley at home; a son, Tyler Foley of Milwaukee, Wis.; two daughters, Katherine Hernandez of Fayetteville, N.C., and Donna Goebel (Rick) of Kalama, Wash.; a brother, Roger Foley (Hilda) of Dallas; five grandchildren, Kelsie Jones, Travis Wilson, Andrew Wilson (Kelsey), Joshua Wilson and Kortni Smith; four great-grandchildren; and his canine companions, Chloe and Gracie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Keith Foley in 2013.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Feb. 22 at Steele Chapel followed by a light luncheon in the chapel’s hospitality room. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at Hudson Cemetery. Pallbearers include Travis Wilson, Brady Stuart, Joshua Wilson, Rick Goebel, randy Wright, and Rich Olsen.
