James “Jim” Patrick Sweeney
January 16, 1944 – September 28, 2020

“1) I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. 2) He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3) He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in Him. 4) Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.” Psalm 40:1-4 NIV

It is with heavy hearts that we bring you news of James departing this life. James has finished his race for the Lord, joining Him and rejoining (and rejoicing with) loved ones who have gone before.

Born to and preceded by his parents, Patrick “Pat” Grady and Juanita (Thompson) Sweeney of Bakersfield and Wofford Heights, CA., James is succeeded by: his daughters Shannon Mullins (OR), Erin Isenberg (UT), Sharie Sweeney (CA), his son Michael Sweeney (WA), and his sister Judy (Sweeney) Weaver, and their families. James is also succeeded by his daughter Julaine Reimer, sons Brent Reimer, Blake Reimer, Brian Reimer, and their families. James is also succeeded by Linda (Hale) Haskell (CA), preceded by Janet (Pigman) Sweeney (CA/OR) (1949-1994), and succeeded by Lanita Reimer (OR).

James graduated from North High School in Bakersfield CA, Cal Poly Technical Institute, Claremont School of Theology and Pepperdine University.

Regretfully and respectfully, due to Covid-19 concerns James’ family will be holding a private memorial service. In the meantime, we have set up this page where everyone can celebrate his life.
