James Kaare Gimse passed away suddenly January 1, 2021 at his home in Ridgefield, Washington. He was born on February 5, 1955 in Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Wilson High School in 1973. In 1974, he married the love of his life, Karen, and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After nine years, he was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant He served honorably for 23 years and traveled the world with his family until he retired as a Major in 1997 at which time he and his family returned to their hometown in Tacoma, WA. Kaare’s second career was in management with US West/CenturyLink.
He loved spending time with his family, his dogs Odin & Freya, golfing, and playing games. Kaare hoped his life exemplified his personal relationship with Christ and his deep love for his family and country.
He is survived by his wife Karen; sons Joshua (Dusty) and Aaron; daughter Misa (James) Ruiz; grandchildren Alexander, Mara, Brandon, Kyle, Ethan, Julie, Lily, Ashley (Ricky), and Krys; great-grandchildren Nate and Ezra; his sister Debe and brother Tom (Tammy) Gimse; his extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James B. and Jo Gimse.
