In loving memory of James William Watson Jr., known fondly as "Jimbo", a man whose life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His journey began on April 19, 1937, in Longview, Washington, where he graced the world with his presence. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his peaceful passing on June 27, 2024, in the same town where his story began.
Jim's life was defined by dedication and passion, particularly during his remarkable 43-year career at Longview Fibre Co., where he poured his heart and soul into his work. His commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Graduating from R.A. Long High School in 1955, Jim was a shining star in the realm of sports, he excelled as a four-year athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. His dedication as an athlete was a testament to his perseverance and hard work.
Among Jim's cherished memories were his travels across the United States and Mexico, basking in the warmth of the sun in places like Hawaii, Las Vegas, and his beloved Yellowstone Park in Wyoming. These adventures added color to his life and enriched his spirit.
Jim's larger-than-life personality was marked by his love for sports, a cold beer, and the joy he found in spending time with his grandchildren. He had an insatiable passion for corvettes, at one time in his life he owned a 1960 and 1970 Corvette. He also had a loved for sports, he had a story for each one. Later in life he found a love for fast pitch and golf.
Above all else, Jim treasured his family. He was immensely proud of his sons and their achievements. In this time of mourning, we remember Vera "Lemiere" Watson (Mother), James W. Watson (Father), Scott W. Watson (Son), Robert Watson (Brother), as they join Jim in eternity.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love that continues through M. Helene Watson (Wife), John R. Watson (Son), Michael J. Watson (Son), James J. Cunningham (Step-son), Jayanne M. Wakefield (Step-daughter), Marlene L. Johanson (Step-daughter), thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous Lemiere cousins who will carry forward his memory with grace and honor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 21, 2024 at the Cowlitz Valley Moose Lodge located at 921 Washington Way in Longview, Washington. The event will commence at 1:00 PM to honor a life well-lived.
