John James Feller, 74, peacefully passed from his earthly walk to his self-prepared eternal destiny during his sleep March 7, 2022.
John was born in Seattle, Wash., to Joseph and Donna Feller. John graduated from Lincoln High School. He was drafted and served in Vietnam, Germany, South Carolina, Fort Lewis, and retired as an E-8 from the National Guard in Longview.
John had many interests and views. He attended Lower Columbia College, studying criminal justice. He worked at the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant until it closed. He worked at several security companies, but retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier in Clatskanie, Ore.
Earlier in life he loved hunting, fishing for steelhead, camping and boating. More recently he was involved with the Civil War Re-enactment Club for the south. He was a musician playing the guitar, and was learning the banjo, harmonica and keyboard. John loved to play PS-4, mostly WWII battles or old west games. He had many open communications over his computer with friends around the world. He constructed model cars and planes, played chess and was well-versed in history. John was actively discovering his family roots as far back as the 1700s.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Wanda June (Custer) Feller on Aug. 14, 2021.
He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly in Battle Ground, Wash.; a son, Robert in Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren, A.J. in Spokane, and Ashley, Haily and Paige all in Longview; four great-grandchildren, Faith, Bradon, Oliver and Jaxxon; his friend and former son-in-law, Jeff in Longview; two sisters, Sally and Jeanie; three brothers, Joe, Duncan and Shannon; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and innumerable friends.
He was proud of his recently reclaimed faith, attending Valley Christian Fellowship, a bible study group and Keenagers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. A viewing is planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at Steele Chapel.
