Lifelong local resident John M. Seeborg, 86, of Longview, passed away March 22, 2023, at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born March 18, 1937, in Longview, to Hugo and Charlotte (Morgan) Seeborg. He graduated from Kelso High School in 1955, studied forestry at Lower Columbia College, and served in the Army, stationed in Germany.
John retired from the Weyerhaeuser Lumber Mill after 31 years of service. He raised mixed-Scottish Shorthorn Cattle and enjoyed singing in the Longview United Methodist Church Choir, where he had been a member for more than 50 years. John was deeply spiritual, confident in his beliefs, and nonjudgmental. He had an appreciation for nature and animals.
John is survived by a sister, Margaret Rismoen of Puyallup, Wash.; eight nieces and nephews and their families, and his feline companion, Midnight.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Seeborg on October 16, 1949, at the age of eight; a sister, Ida Jacobs on March 22, 2022; and a nephew, Tom Jacobs on August 23, 2019.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20 at the Longview United Methodist Church wit Pastor Alison officiating. A light luncheon will follow. Viewings are planned from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7 at Steele Chapel.
