Jose F. Garcia

Former local resident Jose F. Garcia, 35, passed away July 6, 2021, in Abilene, Kan.
He was born June 26, 1986, in Eugene, Ore., to Federico Garcia and Lorie Brood. Jose graduated from Kelso High School and served his country in the Navy. He had been a resident of Abilene, Kan., for the past 12 years.
Jose enjoyed bowling, working with tools, trips to the Pacific Coast, fishing, volunteering with the Abilene and Smokey Valley Railroad, collecting and recycling, coin collecting and watching The Simpsons, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his companion, Rheannon Jeffrey at home; two stepchildren, Kristofer and Elizabeth Holman at home; his mother, Lorie Calvert (Ben) of Bucyrus, Kan.; his father, Federico Garcia of Springfield, Ore.; and a sister, Petra Mattson (Adam) of Longview.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Jose will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at Longview Memorial Park.
