Longview

Joyce Irene Burpee, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, in Vancouver, Washington. Born on May 19, 1944, in Caldwell, Idaho, Joyce led a life filled with love and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who met her.

Joyce graduated from Caldwell High School in 1962 and carried the spirit of her youth into her adult life through hard work and an unwavering commitment to her family. Married to her devoted husband Tom Burpee for 62 years, Joyce poured her heart into building a life that was a testament to the power of love and companionship. Together they traveled life's journey hand-in-hand, embracing all the challenges and triumphs that came their way.

She was cherished by many; her kindness knew no bounds, and she was loved by all. Joyce's passion for life shone through in her vast array of interests. She found joy in fishing, bowling, and bingo, and was never one to shy away from a well-tended garden and yard. Her love for the Seattle Seahawks was evident, as she proudly rooted for her team through every season. Joyce also enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing games with her family—especially 6 Dice—bringing light and laughter into their gatherings.

Her children—Shelly, Barb, Chris (RIP), and Jon (Julie), —alongside her eight loving grandchildren—Gary, Gregg, Jennifer, Craig, Tim, Andruw, Thomas, and Susannah, and her brother Richard—were Joyce’s proudest accomplishments. Each moment spent with her family was a treasure she held dearly; their joy was her joy, and each milestone celebrated was a point of pride in her life.

Joyce’s life was filled with memorably sweet moments that will forever be cherished by her family. Whether working diligently in the yard or being a comforting presence at home, she embodied the essence of love and support. Her legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and unyielding affection, traits that will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she leaves behind.

A funeral service in her honor will take place on October 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Steele Chapel, located at 5050 Mt. Solo Road, Longview, WA. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Joyce’s life and share in all the wonderful memories.

Joyce Irene Burpee will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those privileged to have known her. As we reflect on her life, let us hold close the joy she brought, reminded always of the love that she freely gave and the love that will continue to thrive in her memory.
