Joyce Sally Schreiner, 79, of Kelso, was born July 7, 1941, in International Falls, Minn., and passed away June 3, 2021, in Longview.
The daughter of Wallace and Anne (Pudluck) Rye, “Jody” moved with her family to Kelso as a child and graduated from Kelso High School. She married Fred Allen Gloor in Longview Jan. 12, 1966.
Jody worked in her mother’s restaurant from a young age, had a short stint at the Fibre mill, learned a bit in Park-n-Shop’s meat department, and met her future husband, Orville Lee Schreiner, while cleaning new construction sites. They married July 4, 1972, in Reno. Jody also worked in New Orleans clubs and held a few other odd jobs before settling down and owning/operating Cowlitz Gardens Adult Family Home in Longview for more than 35 years.
Jody was a hard-working, outgoing, caring and fun person who enjoyed time with family, cake decorating, painting, gardening, barbecues and anything related to food, from prepping to eating.
She is survived in Longview by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Brenda Gloor, and Darrin and Kathy Gloor; five grandsons, Skyler C., Kyle T., Zachary R., Khristopher G., and Evan A.; and a great-grandson, Andrew R.
Jody was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; her former husband, Fred; and two brothers, Newman and Clarence Rye.
A celebration of Jody’s life is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday, June 27 at 2600 36th Ave., in Longview. Jody will be laid to rest with Orville at Longview Memorial Park.
