June E. Johnson, age 62, a resident of Ridgefield, WA died Friday December 17, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
The third of three daughters, June was born June 23, 1959 in Pompton Plains, NJ to her parents Jeanne and Martin Peters. Her parents immigrated to the US from the Netherlands. As a first generation American her love of country and heritage was strong.
June made lifelong friends wherever she went, first in Pompton Lakes and Sussex, NJ and then in southwest Washington. June valued relationships very much and had a large circle of people she loved from all the decades of her life. She always had room in her heart for another friend.
After graduation from High Point Regional High School in Sussex, NJ June moved to southwest Washington where she studied business at Clark College as she began a 40 year career at Frito Lay.
June met her husband Stephen Johnson while still in NJ. They married and started a family which includes twins Jess and Jared and daughter Rachel. Later she joyfully welcomed son-in law David and then grandchildren John Olen and Anna June. Together each of these were the great joys of her life! Reading to the grandkids, playing games with them, having them over for sleepovers and watching them often were also joyous days.
June’s life was full with faith, family, work and so many things she loved to do. She is well known for her delicious homemade blueberry pancake sauce, homemade jams, and annual Apple Cider Fest which she hosted the last 13 years, her love of garage sales and vintage clothing, gardening, multi generation Hawaiian family vacations and summer camping weekends. She worked hard at all she did and did it all well.
A long time member and volunteer at Bethel Church in Ridgefield, June’s faith was first and foremost in her life and was her guide. She leaned heavily on her faith during both the good and difficult seasons and was inspirational to all who knew and loved her.
June is survived by her husband of 38 years, Stephen Johnson and her children Jess Johnson, Jared Johnson, Rachel Giese (David Giese), her grandchildren John and Anna Giese and her sisters Nellie Strehl (Ed Wittekind) and Linda Bliss (Darrell Bliss), sisters-in-law Jeannine Wagner and Diane Rix (Kevin Rix), brother-in-law Jeff Johnson (Candice Madison) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Jeanne and Martin Peters and two brothers-in-law.
