Katherine Gilbert, of Longview, passed away on November 21st, 2024, after reaching the age of 77 years old. Two months after her cancer diagnosis, she passed, peacefully in her home in Longview, WA.
Katherine was born in Bloomington, Indiana, to Sarah Katherine Burris (Cloyd) and Joseph Samuel Burris.
After moving from Indiana to Washington, Kathy met her soulmate, Tommy Charles Gilbert, who she spent 46 years married to. Together, the two of them spent their devoted lives to Jehovah, helping others and spreading their faith to people all over the world and were active members of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Katherine loved hosting gatherings in their home, and that was just a sprinkle of her giving personality. She was also a partner business owner with her husband, Tom, of a pipe fabrication, Pacific Mechanical Inc. While Tom enjoyed growing various fruit trees in their voluminous backyard, Kathy enjoyed harvesting those fruits for baking. With her love of cooking and baking, she had enough cookbooks to fill what seems like an entire library. When she wasn’t helping spread the word of Jehovah, baking, or hosting gatherings, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Gilbert; parents Sarah Katherine Burris (Cloyd) and Joseph Samuel Burris; her brothers, Frank Marion Burris, and John Timothy Burris; and her stepson, David Charles Gilbert.
Katherine is survived by two siblings, Ginger Axsom (Burris), and Joseph Daniel Burris; two daughters, Sheila Durham and Sherryl Myers; two stepdaughters, Penny Baker-Gilbert, and LeAnn Smith; her ten grandchildren, Adam, Myriah, Amber, Logan, Andre, Aleetia, Christina, Dustin, Jessica, and Izzy; and her great grandchildren, Viola, Charlie, and Nathan.
