Leonard Rietdyk

October 12, 1952 — August 26, 2016

Leonard Rietdyk, 63, of Ridgefield, WA, passed away August 26, 2016, less than five weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. He passed away at home in the arms of his family.
Leonard was born October 21, 1952, in Vancouver, WA to Elizabeth and Segert Rietdyk. He was a lifelong resident of Clark County.
Leonard graduated in 1971 from Ridgefield High School. Two years later he married Joni Schlosser, the love of his life. They celebrated 43 years of marriage just last month.
Leonard worked for Nutter Corporation until his health forced him to take a leave just five weeks ago. He had a strong worth ethic that went back to working on the family farm (Rietdyk's Dairy and Feed store) in his youth. Leonard shared his passion for farming with his children by his endless years of showing cattle and volunteering at the Clark County Fair. Working at Nutter Corporation was his job, but Leonard's true passion was farming. He worked tirelessly on his farm where he raised Herefords and Holsteins.
Leonard's love for his family and friends knew no bounds. You could tell just by listening to him talk about his children how proud he was of them. He was the go to guy. Whatever you needed, he would be there for you.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Joni; son, Jason (Lori) Rietdyk; daughter, Kayla (Duke) Smith; and grandchildren, Noah, Annabella and Halton. He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Rietdyk; his sister, Lucy (Don) Hegge; brother, Robert (Paula); and sisters-in-law, Teresa Schlosser and Gina Helland.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Segert Rietdyk; father-in-law, Harlan Schlosser; brother-in-law, Tony Schlosser; and nephew, Justin Hegge.
There will be a Memorial Service for Leonard on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 6 PM at the Rietdyk farm, 512 NW Carty, Ridgefield, WA
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to set up a scholarship fund in Leonard's name for Youth and Agriculture. Donations can be made at any Columbia Credit Union.
