Leonard Elmer Rismoen Jr., 85, of Longview passed away July 2, 2024, at PeaceHealth Richard Nau Hospice House while surrounded by family.
He was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Kelso, WA., to Leonard and Myrtle (Skinner) Rismoen. He grew up with four siblings, two brothers and two sisters.
Leonard worked at a shake mill while attending Kelso High School. He graduated from there in 1957. On Oct. 5, 1957, he married Joyce Elaine Morkert. They went along to have four children together.
Leonard worked several years for and retired from Weyerhaeuser Pulp. He cherished his time camping and fishing with his family at their lot at Mayfield Kampers Klub in Mossyrock, Washington. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Leonard and his wife had many pets throughout the years that he loved dearly. He often spent his free time working on many projects in his garage. He was a Mariners and Seahawks fan, and enjoyed both attending and watching their games on television.
Surviving him are two of his children, Sandra Sullivan (Tom) and Lonnie Rismoen, both of Longview; seven grandchildren, Kayla Sullivan of Tacoma, Heather Hawley (Tim) of Vancouver, Nikki Mawae (Keoni), Zachary Rismoen (Kelsey) and Jacie Rismoen, all of Longview, Brittany Fiedler (Matt) of Discovery Bay, CA., and Eric Saxton of Brentwood, CA; five great grandchildren, Levi, Sawyer, and River Fiedler, Kailoh Mawae and Hayes Hawley; a brother, Richard Rismoen of Castle Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his son, Gregory Lee Rismoen; an infant daughter, Karen Eloise Rismoen; a daughter in law, Cindy Rismoen; two sisters, Betty Handy and Bernita Dugan; and a brother, Jack Rismoen.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00am on Saturday, July 13th at Steele Chapel in Longview, WA.
