Leroy Allen Schinzing

Leroy A. Schinzing was born on Feb. 9, 1959 in St. Paul, MN to Louie W. Schinzing Jr & Gail E. Schinzing. The family moved to Vancouver, WA in June 1972. Leroy passed away on Nov. 8, 2020 due to pancreatic and liver cancer. He graduated from Columbia River High School and Leroy left a legacy behind as the kid who streaked the Homecoming assembly. Leroy also served in the Army and was stationed in Germany for a short time. Leroy worked many jobs over the years. One of his jobs was working at Anodizing in Portland. Another job he loved was ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. He always liked helping people. He also liked to help on his sister's farm where he resided. He enjoyed feeding the cows even in the winter months. He referred to the cows as "his girls". Leroy enjoyed bowling for many years. He had been on leagues in Vancouver over the years. Something he really enjoyed was camping up at Panther Creek and going camping with his best buddy Brent and Brent's family. He really liked the outdoors. Another passion Leroy had was music. In his lifetime he had attended over 200 concerts. Leroy also liked to travel. He had been to Hawaii, Mexico and the Bahamas. He was even able to take Bora Bora off his bucket list. He went there this year and from what we were told it was quite the adventure. He also enjoyed going back to Minnesota to visit relatives and friends. He was a major Minnesota Vikings fan! Loved the color purple.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents Louie & Gail Schinzing, brothers Ricky Schinzing and Daniel Schinzing and survived by his sisters Barbara Schinzing, Patricia Harrington (Pete) and his brother Louie Schinzing III. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews -Aimee Roberts, Brandi Howard (Jeremy), Louie Schinzing IV (Mary), Rori Jones (Jesse), Tyson Knigge (Tanya), Kandis McEllrath (Dallas), Gabrielle Harrington and Edward Schinzing. He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews that he just adored. The nieces and nephews all will miss the McDonald gift certificates at Christmas which was a tradition he stated when they were very little.

A special thank you to Hospice for their assistance and to Kandis McEllrath. Due to Covid 19, there was no funeral at this time. There will be a celebration of life sometime this summer.
