Linda Kay Hitt

September 23, 1946 — May 6, 2023

Linda Kay (Cisler) Hitt, 76, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Longview, Washington.

She was born on September 23, 1946, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Frank and Elby (Brabec) Cisler. In 1958, Linda moved with her family to Boise Idaho where she attended St Mary’s School, St Teresa’s Academy, and graduated from Boise High School in 1964. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics/Education from the University of Idaho in 1968.

She met the love of her life, Robert Hitt, in 1966 at Boise Junior College, enjoyed a courtship during their shared time at the University of Idaho, and they were married in June, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Boise, Idaho. The happy couple spent the first years of marriage traveling from Biloxi, Mississippi to Tokyo, Japan, with Air Force Service. She taught middle school for the Department of Defense during her time in Japan. Upon completing time in the Air Force, Linda and her young family returned to the University of Idaho, where Robert completed his education. Linda then spent time living in Prairie Village, Kansas and Soda Springs, Idaho, before moving to Longview, Washington in 1987.

Linda always had a very strong faith and enjoyed working with pre-school and elementary school aged children in parish religious education programs. She joined St. Rose de Viterbo Catholic community, and immediately resumed her work with children. She coordinated the pre-school religious education program for several years. She made many friends through participation in bible studies and small faith communities.

Linda was also a gifted seamstress. She enjoyed making clothes for her children when they were young and then transitioned to making quilts later in life. Linda also loved to cook.

Later in life, when the “nest” was empty, she enjoyed traveling on cruise ships to destinations from the Caribbean to Alaska and Hawaii for over 20 years. She also treasured time spent with her family vacationing at the Oregon Coast where she enjoyed time in the sand with her grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elby Cisler. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Hitt; sister, Susie (Wren) Harris, Boise, Idaho; brother, Chris (Janine) Cisler, Payette, Idaho; daughter, Catherine (Mike) Piechowski, Boise, Idaho; son, Thomas (Judy) Hitt, Pasco, Washington; daughter, Angela (Greg) Cook, Shoreline, Washington; and 10 grandchildren.
