Lynda O'Brien

July 24, 1947 — October 2, 2024

Longview

Lynda O'Brien went home to be with Jesus on October 2, 2024, at the age of 77, in her hometown of Longview, Washington. Born on July 24, 1947, Lynda was a genuine embodiment of love and selflessness, a quality that she imparted to everyone around her throughout her life.

A graduate of Mark Morris High School in 1965, Lynda continued her education at NW Christian College in Kirkland, Washington. She possessed a spirit that was always ready to lend a hand, and her dedication to her family was unmatched. Lynda’s love for her family ran deep, and she consistently put others before herself, showcasing a sincerity that will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Lynda's passions were diverse and reflected her creativity and dedication. She was known for her cake baking skills, having owned O'Brien's Cakes and Crafts business, before she decided to turn her focus towards raising her children. Among her hobbies were crocheting, participating in craft bazaars, playing the piano and organ for church, canning food and watching the Mariners play baseball.

Lynda's active involvement in the Cowlitz County Fair as the superintendent of the poultry barn spoke to her love of engaging with her community. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from creating beautiful cakes to producing artful crochet pieces, always sharing the fruits of her labor with those she cared for.

Her legacy continues to shine through her loving family, including her devoted husband, Chester O'Brien; her children, daughter Kaylene Partridge (Ryan) and son Mickey O'Brien (Karri); her step-daughter Tabatha Steen (Lee); and her grandchildren: Elizabeth, Geoffrey, Skylen, Alicen, Kynlie, Macie; and five great-grandchildren. Her siblings Ken Jackson (Lynnette), Rolleen Johnson, Sue Ellen Church, and LeRoy Jackson. Each one of them will carry forward her spirit of love and generosity.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Eva Jackson, and her brother Verne.
