Marilyn Jean Manchester, 78, of Castle Rock passed away Sept. 3, 2022, at home.
She was born March 9, 1944, in The Dalles, Ore., to Richard and Vera (Henrichs) Campbell. Marilyn earned a bachelor of arts in music from the University of Oregon.
Marilyn taught music at Clatskanie Elementary, Longview Christian School, and Columbia Heights Christian School. She also taught piano out of her home. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Longview Nazarene Church where she led the women’s Bible study “Wisdom of the Word” for many years. She loved playing the piano and sewing. Marilyn was courageous, compassionate, and blessed with a forgiving heart.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Manchester at home; two brothers, Stephen Campbell of Brush Prairie, Wash., and Robert Campbell of Beaverton, Ore.; two sons, Ted Hirning of Kelso, and Miles Manchester in Utah; four daughters, Sarah Phillipps of Tacoma, Wash., Susan Gillard of Mableton, Ga., Melissa Bolinger of Des Moines, Wash., and Amy Westrick of Federal Way, Wash.; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Longview Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dave Ness officiating. Marilyn was laid to rest Sept. 16 at Longview Memorial Park. Pallbearers included Michael Manchester, Stephen Campbell, Ted Hirning, Colby Phillipps, Nick Pace and James Phillipps.
