Mark Anthony Beam went to heaven May 19, 2023 and was 75 years old.
Born in Portland, Ore., May 16, 1948, to Golden Ray (Jack) and Jo Ann Beam, Mark was the eldest of four children. After graduating from Beaverton High School in 1966, he joined the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War, later joining the National Guard reserves.
Mark worked in management at Willamette Industries for nearly 30 years. After retiring from Willamette, Mark started long-haul truck driving to remain busy. Content with a simple, quiet life, retirement found him doing the things he loved: fishing with his brother, gardening with his wife, woodworking in his shop, and enjoying time with family and friends.
A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed household projects and helping people upgrade their homes and was known as a "fix-it" guy. Deceptively gruff on the outside with a sarcastic sense of humor and a mischievous laugh, he was a big old softie on the inside. He was proud of all his children and grandchildren and loved to brag about them. He truly was the salt of the earth and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mark and Candi celebrated 49 years of marriage March 29, 2023.
They are survived by three children, Craig Beam (Teresa), Jill Black (Doug), and Karin Siccardi (Jon); eight grandchildren whom they loved unconditionally, Sierra Leech (Adrian), Logan Quinton (Nathaly), Kendyl Beam, Daphne Zumwalt, Ella Siccardi, Hazel Siccardi, JonMark Siccardi, and William Siccardi; a great-grandson, Oliver Quinton; a brother, Mike Beam (Susan); a sister, Mechelle Beam; and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended loved ones.
Mark and Candi lived simple, ordinary lives but the way they loved others was anything but ordinary. It reached far and wide and was felt by so many. To honor their memory, we ask that you choose to spread acts of kindness and extravagant love.
A celebration of Mark and Candi’s lives was held June 4 at the Empress Estate in Woodland, Wash. A no-host dinner was held at The Oak Tree Restaurant in Woodland.
