Longview

Marvin Curtis Peckham, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed on August 3, 2024, in Longview, Washington. He was born on November 27, 1932, in Miami, Oklahoma, and lived a life filled with dedication to his family and his community.

Marvin's career was marked by his service as assistant postmaster for the Longview Post Office, where he proudly retired at the age of 55. He enjoyed a unique perspective on retirement, often boasting that he had been retired longer than he had worked, a testament to his spirited outlook on life.

A graduate of R. A. Long High School, class of 1951, Marvin also devoted two years to serving his country in the U.S. Army.

Marvin's greatest joy came from family gatherings, particularly fishing trips and barbecues at his home, where he was renowned for his unbeatable hamburgers. His love for fishing was mirrored in his deep appreciation for the outdoors, and his favorite moments were often spent on the water, surrounded by loved ones. He was also passionate about gardening, ensuring he always had an abundance of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers to share.

Marvin adored his six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his daughters, Patti Eslick (Jon) and Sandi Wall; his son, Tom Peckham (Nancy); his brother, Chuck Peckham (Betty); and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember him fondly.

Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Peckham; his brother, Robert Peckham; and his parents, Victoria and Tom Peckham. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love and joy will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

No services will be had, per his request. A donation can be made in Marvin's honor to The Parkinson's Foundation or The Alzheimer's Association.
