Melody Joy Laurila, 76, of Longview, passed away Jan. 15, 2023.
She was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Astoria, Ore., to Paul and Maybelle (Ness) McDonald. She graduated from Kelso High School in 1964.
Melody’s career as a care provider was enhanced by her happy, fun, positive and caring nature. She enjoyed scrapbooking, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.
She married Kenneth Laurila in Longview. He preceded her in death.
Melody is survived by three sons, Mark Laurila of Puyallup, Wash., Joshua Everette of Houston, Texas, and Brett Everette in Washington; four siblings, Peggy Richter and Weldon McDonald, both of Longview, Jerri Pederson of Tenino, Wash., and Chris McDonald; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects during a viewing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, and a funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Steele Chapel. Melody will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Sunday at Longview Memorial Park. Chaplain Mario Gambaro will officiate. Pallbearers will include Joshua Everette, Weldon McDonald, Jerry Richter, Dale Pederson, Christian Everette, and Mark Laurila.
