Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Michael W. McIntosh, 84, of Longview passed away Feb. 20, 2024.
He was born Sept. 24, 1939, in San Mateo, Calif., to Weston and Alberta (Lothrop) McIntosh. As a teenager, he worked as a golf caddy and in his father’s auto upholstery shop until graduating from high school. He retired in 1994 after 40 years as a car salesman.
Michael married Eleanor Nichols in Reno in June of 1959. They had two daughters and later divorced. In April of 1983, he married Dori Levine in Reno. They moved to the local area in 2005, and Dori preceded him in death in 2006.
Michael enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and bowling. In his youth he considered becoming a professional golfer or bowler, but outgrew these dreams. He was serious and responsible and instilled these values in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of his children’s friends took to calling him “Dad” and he liked to say he had too many daughters to count. Michael looked forward to motorhome trips to Rockport Reservoir and annual trips to visit family over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In addition to Dori, Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Brian.
Survivors include his daughters, Katherine Lee of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michele Schafer (Kurt) of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Noreen Fitts (Joel) of Grays River, Wash.; a brother, Woodrow McIntosh of Cokeville, Wyo.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
A celebration of Michael’s life at Rockport Reservoir in Utah will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Health Hospice, in Longview.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park.
