Patrick Thomas Jenkins was born in 1948 to Jean and Larry Jenkins in Seattle, WA. He graduated from Kelso High School in 1966. He married Patricia (Middendorp) Jenkins in 1967 while stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM. Pat passed away on January 24, 2023.
Pat is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patty, his two brothers, Tary (Christine) Jenkins and Mike (Joan) Jenkins, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Pat was preceded in death by his son, Gary Jenkins, his parents, Jean and Larry Jenkins and a nephew, Baron Godwin.
After Pat served in the Air Force for 4 years, he received his AA degree from Lower Columbia College, B.A. Western Washington University, M.ED. Central Washington University and Admin. Degree Lewis and Clark College. He was a Special Education teacher and taught in Tacoma, Anchorage, AK and Longview School District. Many of the students that Pat taught remained in contact with him over the years, just staying in touch and sharing their lives with him. He loved teaching and working with students.
Pat loved people and people loved Pat. He was an accomplished dancer and along with his wife, Patty, gave dance lessons and danced in local productions. He loved photography and was a skilled frame maker for all his many pictures. Pat and Patty enjoyed riding their Honda Goldwing motorcycles cross country with their friends. He was an avid bike rider and did the STP with his brothers several times. He climbed Mt. St. Helens with his brothers with just their tennis shoes and a rope. They survived! If there was an adventure to be had, Pat was all for it.
After retirement, they traveled to Yuma to spend the winters and enjoyed the sun and activities there.
Pat will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind and caring man. He made you feel as if you were the most special person, and you always felt good after spending time with him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Villager Retirement Center in Castle Rock for their excellent care of Pat the last year of his life. There will be a private family burial for Pat at Longview Memorial Park. The family will have a celebration of life for Pat this summer in Ryderwood, WA on August 19th.
