Ramona Lee Lowery, 64, of Longview passed away Dec. 30, 2024, at home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1959, in Longview, to Curtis and Wanda Lee Lowery, the youngest of five. Ramona graduated from R.A. Long High School with the class of 1977, and attended Lower Columbia College.
Ramona (Mona, Grammy Lowery, Grammy Warthog) Ramona was a homemaker as well as a caregiver and retail worker. She volunteered at the Community House on Broadway and enjoyed crafts projects, beading, painting and collecting butterflies, antiques, and clothes for anyone she could think of.
Ramona started her journey of motherhood with her son Shannon born in 1978. She continued to grow a family with Pedro Gonzalez, together they had a daughter and a son. As time went on she would open her home and care for Pedro’s four other children. The family of 9 would all live together for some time in Longview and Kelso.
She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Lowery-Oakes of Battle Ground, WA.; a son and his wife Daniel and Tasha Lowery of Williston, N.D.; three stepchildren, Rudy Gonzalez of Longview, and Shari Gonzalez and Emilio Gonzalez, both of Beaverton, Ore.; three granddaughters, Shannon Lowery, Alivia Lowery, and Althea Jones and a grand son Archer Jones of Battle Ground, WA two sisters, Belinda Lowery of Longview and Lila Lowery of Castle Rock; a brother and his wife, Tim and Diane Lowery of Vancouver; her long-time friend, Dusty Payne; and her feline companion, Happy Cooper.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Shannon Lowery in 2006; a stepson, Jose Gonzalez in 2020; an infant brother, Guy Gregory; and a sister, Rebecca Cunningham.
A celebration of Ramona’s life is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at Potter’s House Church, 2116 E. Kessler Blvd., in Longview.
