Rick Smith

Rick Quentin Smith, 65, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 in Olympia, Washington. He was born November 12, 1952 in Yakima, Washington to Robert Quentin Smith and Nancy Ruth Smith (McFarland).

He married Beverly Kiehn in Chehalis, Washington on August 30, 1975. They had three daughters, Misty, Chelsey and Tiffany and were later divorced.

He married Kelly Wright on January 14, 1987 in Chehalis, WA. They had two daughters, Lyndsay and Alexis and were divorced in 2000.

He married Susan Clapshaw Smith in South Bend, Washington on April 18, 2007.

As a young child, Rick lived in Seattle, Washington then Clarkston, Washington. The family moved to Ogden, Utah when Rick was 12 where he went to school and graduated from Bonneville High School. After graduation, he moved to Winlock, Washington and started working for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Eventually, he became the Superintendent of the Work Release Program at the youth camp in Naselle where he mentored young men trying to get back on track. He worked for the DNR for 34 years retiring in 2007. He continued to work part-time until November 2017. He and Susie built their Raymond home in 2012 and shared a beautiful life together spending their time creating, building and restoring furniture and art. He loved to fish, golf and spend time with family and friends. Rick was serving as the Leading Knight at the Raymond Elks Lodge 1292. He served as Exalted Ruler in 2011 and 2012 and had been appointed to serve next year as well. Rick was a man you could count on and he lived by the motto, "Always do the right thing."

Rick is survived by his wife, Susan Smith, Raymond, WA; brother, Steve (Marilyn) Smith Centennial, CO; daughters, Misty (Jerry) Hiatt, Kelso, WA; Chelsey Smith, Gresham, OR; Tiffany (Dudu) Cohen, Nahariya, Israel; Lyndsay (Andy Mcgrath) Smith, Pe Ell, WA; Alexis (Gabe Woodward) Smith, Pe Ell, WA and step-daughters, Amy (Eddie) Triplett, Abby (Brian) Konigsberger, Angie Smith, Alecia Russell and 21 grandchildren who will greatly miss, "Papa."

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Smith.

A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Raymond Elks Lodge, 326 3rd, Raymond, WA 98577.
